Last month we released our new Click To Tweet Google Chrome Extension, and so far the feedback has been positive!

If you haven’t installed the extension yet, definitely do so as it makes it even easier to use Click To Tweet on any website you visit. You can create and share a Click To Tweet link just by clicking a button in your Chrome browser. A Click To Tweet window will appear pre-filled with information about the site you are on and make it easy to customize and create a new link.

The new extension also adds a context menu item that allows you to select any text, right-click it, and select the Click To Tweet option to automatically create a new Click To Tweet link using the text you’ve selected.

Recently, we emailed our customers asking for them to share any specific feature ideas or improvements we could make to Click To Tweet that would help make their lives easier. We were excited to see many of you respond and share your thoughts.

We’ve already begun working on implementing some of the changes that were suggested, and while we aren’t quite finished yet, we have made some improvements that were mentioned so we’d like to share them.

Updated interface for viewing, searching your CTT links

We’ve changed the interface for how you view your links in the dashboard. The new layout is more like a spreadsheet and is much easier to view larger lists of links. It also supports sorting by any field and, as requested, includes a search box making it easy to find links in the current folder.

Twitter was designed as the social media site for very short messages. For years, the limit was 140 characters. Then, in November of 2017, Twitter doubled this, allowing for 280 characters. Actually, this feature was released incrementally over the fall. Although there were press releases and an official announcement, many people were not aware of it. Most of the discussions were on blogs specializing in technology or social media, such as TechCrunch. Now that the changes have been in effect for a few months, it’s interesting to look at the results and whether or not this change has significantly altered the way people use Twitter.

Twitter has introduced a couple of important updates in the last few months. Although various news and tech sites have reported these changes, many users are still not aware of them. First of all, the allowable number of characters in a tweet has doubled from 140 to 280 characters. On December 12, 2017, Twitter announced another new feature that has the potential to truly transform the way people use the social media site.

It’s now possible to connect a series of tweets and create long threads. This, in effect, lets you write long-form posts as you can on Facebook, LinkedIn, Medium, Tumblr or, of course, your own blog. Combined, these new features mean that Twitter is gradually moving away from the original concept of short tweets. Let’s look at how Twitter has moved in this new direction in stages and some of the implications of these changes.
